A molecular biologist by training, Dr. Britta Winterberg is passionate about biotechnology and sustainability. Until mid-2022, Britta served as CSO of Formo Bio which produces animal-free dairy products through precision fermentation. Before co-founding Formo in 2019, she pursued an academic career at the Australian National University, Canberra, and the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, Marburg.
As founder and CEO of Mycolever, Britta establishes a new fungal platform for the expression of alternative proteins for food, cosmetics, biomaterials, and pharmaceuticals. Mycolever uses an AI approach to identify and optimize fungal strains for high-yield, low-cost production of a wide range of proteins. Mycolever offers strain engineering services as well as bioprocess and downstream processing co- development.
